MEREDITH GRAVES FOREMAN

Meredith Graves Foreman passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2007. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

Born in Los Angeles, she was raised in Beverly Hills, attended Marlborough School, the University of Arizona, where she affiliated with Delta Gamma and on to U.S.C. where she graduated. She married Jack Preston Foreman and they had a daughter, Christin.

She and her daughter moved to Corona del Mar in 1964. She was dedicated to the arts, children’s causes, and educational organizations throughout her life.

She was past president of the Los Angeles Orphanage Guild Jr.’s, 30-year member of the Orange County Museum of Art (formerly Newport Harbor Art Museum), 20-year member of the Museums’ Council (serving as president and chairman), member of U.C. Irvine’s Research Associates, a 12-year board member of New Directions, a residential treatment center for women and children, and a 10-year board member of the Decorative Arts Society, a support group of New Directions.

She is survived by her devoted daughter Christin Foreman Ellis, her son-in-law David Ellis, her grandchildren Andrea and Preston Ellis, her sisters Janet Graves Carsola, and Carole Graves Gibson.

She lived her life with joy, enthusiasm, grace and style and always with an eye for the beauty around her.

A Celebration of Life will be held for her family and friends on Sunday, February 25th at 12:00 noon at the Balboa Bay Club, 1221 W. Coast Hwy., Newport Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Directions, 334 University Dr., Costa Mesa, CA 92626, c/o Rebecca Flood.
