Experian announces new application

Costa Mesa-based Experian Group Ltd. announced last week its new mobile web-based application for business and sales professionals, giving them access to Experian’s commercial credit database of over 19 million businesses.

BizGo gives professionals instant access to a company’s credit standing and all its current information from a cell phone or other handheld device that has Internet access.

The reports can include a business’s address, phone number, annual sales, liens, bankruptcies and number of employees. It also gives a letter grade for the overall credit rating.

Newport investor buys H.B. properties

Newport Beach-based CT Realty Corporation announced Tuesday its acquisition of the Huntington Beach Plaza and Huntington Beach Commerce Center for $20 million.

The real estate investor and developer plans to invest about $1 million to improve the two office centers. At the Huntington Beach Plaza in the 5700 block of Bolsa Avenue, the company plans to split two larger office suites into five smaller units and make other upgrades to the interior, as well as meet tenant-specific requirements. The building is 77% occupied with three open suites.

The other buildings, which are for flex and industrial uses, are on Graham Street and Oceanus Drive. The buildings are almost 100% occupied.

The buildings were bought from Los Angeles-based Arden Realty Inc., which was recently acquired by GE Realty, also in Los Angeles.

Newport engineering company wins award

Newport Beach-based Boyle Engineering Corporation announced last week it won a Business Achievement Award from the Environmental Baines Journal.

Boyle received a bronze for firms of its size for “demonstrating significant revenue and earnings grown in 2006 and for extending the firm’s geographical reach,” according to a news release from the company.

Boyle Engineering works in the water, wastewater and transportation industries.

The Environmental Business Journal is geared toward companies in the environmental industry.

OC Weekly seeking new editor

OC Weekly is looking for a new editor after Will Swaim announced last month he was leaving the alternative newspaper.

Swaim helped start the paper in 1995 with its original owner, Village Voice Media.

Last year, a company called New Times Media acquired the paper through its merger with Village Voice Media.

The alternative weekly paper covers Orange County news and entertainment.

Island Hotel extends Sunday breakfasts

The Island Hotel in Newport Beach announced last week it would offer an extended breakfast on Sundays at its Pavilion Restaurant.

The hotel’s chefs wanted to serve the morning meal in a fashion that would allow guests to enjoy breakfast at their leisure Sundays, which is meant to be a day of rest, distinct from the work week.

Locals and hotel guests are welcome. Breakfast will be served Sundays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
