CITY COUNCIL WRAPUP
The following is from the Dec. 5 meeting of the Laguna Beach City Council:
EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS
Bill Wood of the Orange County Human Relations Commission and Susan Reice of the Human Relations Council reported no hate crimes or incidences were documented in Laguna Beach in 2005.
“It’s an honor to be a citizen of this city when I present this report,” Wood said.
CONSENT CALENDAR
[Editor’s note: Consent calendar items are approved in one motion unless a member of the council, staff or public “pull” the item, which then requires opening it to public comment and a separate vote.]
Approved without comment:
DESIGN REVIEW BOARD APPOINTMENTS
John Keith, Ilse Lenschow and Leslie LeBon were appointed to two-year terms to the Board of Adjustment/Design Review Board. Ken Sadler was appointed to a one-year term as alternate.
ALISO CONSULTANT APPROVED 5-0
The City Council unanimously approved hiring former city Assistant Development Director Kathy Lottes to manage the development project expected to be submitted early in 2007 for Aliso Creek Inn and Golf Course.
MEASURE A REBATE 5-0
The council asked the Measure A Oversight Committee to consider a rebate from the half-cent local tax when it is paid outside of Laguna and exceeds an amount to be recommended by the committee.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING 5-0
The council directed the city manager and city attorney to explore the possibility of using revenue bonds to provide affordable housing for employees.
PIPE DREAM 5-0
The council unanimously approved construction staging for the emergency stabilization of the beach interceptor tunnel and sewer pipeline at 31965-32221 Coast Highway.
