The following is from the Dec. 11 meeting of the Laguna Beach Arts Commission.
Murals may move to council chambers
Several of the temporary postcard murals originally exhibited at the bus depot on Ocean Ave. may be installed in council chambers in the future.
The commission approved the renovation of three of the four murals for possible use in a corner of the chamber.
Artists attend tour of future public art site
Cultural Arts Manager Siân Poeschl reported that several artists from both Laguna and around the country attended a tour of the future site of public art at 1900 Laguna Canyon Road. earlier this month.
The competition will offer the city’s largest commission to date at $90,000.
An additional tour for interested artists will be held in January.
Additional City Hall exhibitions mulled
The commission is considering holding additional art exhibitions at City Hall, including a joint program with the Laguna College of Art and Design and a juried show open to Southern California artists.
