Lifeguards need donors for blood drive

Newport Beach lifeguards, in cooperation with the American Red Cross, will be having a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

Those interested can go to Lifeguard Headquarters at the Newport Beach Pier.

Walk-ins are welcome to give blood, as the drive is short on donors. As a result, lines today are expected to be very short as well.

Developer adds new board member

Newport Beach-based Bixby Land Co. appointed Robert Brunswick to its board of directors Monday.

Brunswick joins the Bixby board with more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate. He is also the founder, president and CEO of Buchanan Street Partners, a national real estate investment bank.

Bixby Land Co. is one of the oldest real estate investment and development companies in Southern California.

A graduate of UC Berkeley, where he completed a bachelor’s degree and the Executive Management program at Haas School of Business, Brunswick now serves on the Leadership Council of the Lusk Center for Real Estate at USC.

Brunswick was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005.
