Youth harriers shine at state meet

Six Laguna Beach runners earned medals at the Youth State Cross-Country Championships held last Saturday in Torrance.

Greer Jacobs. 7. captured first-place in the girls’ 1K race, winning with a time of 3:40. In the boys’ 1K race, Tyler Chedes ran a 4:11 to garner a 10th-place finish.

Casey Koprowski ran a 9:22 in the 2K event, good for 10th-place. In the boys’ 12-and-Under 2K race, Joseph William Rousseau (7:41) and Adam Redding-Kaufman (7:46) placed seventh and eighth, respectively.

In the girls’ 3K, Natasha Strickland earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 10:18.

Breakers baseball players commit

Two current members of the Laguna Beach High baseball team have signed a letter of intent to play at four-year schools next year, Breakers Coach Dave Dopf said.

Senior pitcher Pitcher Nathan Pickett has committed to Cal State Los Angeles and infielder Dominick Robusto has committed to Davidson College in North Carolina, Dopf said.

In other Breakers baseball news, Laguna Beach will host its alumni game on Feb. 17.

Dopf is looking to add more alumni players to the roster. Interested players can contact him at (949) 291-6647.

Volleyball club teams forming in Laguna

Main Beach Volleyball Club in Laguna Beach is forming girls’ 16’s & 15’s teams.
