Hoops tourney begins Monday

The Ocean View Tournament of Champions boys’ basketball event starts Monday at the Seahawks gymnasium.

Fourteen of some of the Southland’s top teams will be split into four pools. Schools competing in this year’s edition are host Ocean View, Dominguez, Harvard-Westlake, Compton Centennial, L.A. Birmingham, Rancho Verde, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Loyola, Villa Park, Compton, Long Beach Cabrillo, Lakewood, JSerra and Clovis West.

The tournament concludes with championship and consolation-round play on Dec. 16. Games begin at 10 a.m. that day, culminating with the championship game is at 7 p.m.

Monday’s schedule

  • 3:30 p.m.: Ocean View vs. Notre Dame

  • 5 p.m.: Harvard-Westlake vs. Rancho Verde

  • 6:30 p.m.: Birmingham vs. Villa Park

  • 8 p.m.: Centennial vs. Loyola

    • Tuesday’s schedule

  • 3:30 p.m.: Rancho Verde vs. Compton

  • 5 p.m.: Clovis West vs. Cabrillo

  • 6:30 p.m.: JSerra vs. Lakewood

  • 8 p.m.: Dominguez vs. Birmingham

    • Wednesday’s schedule

  • 3:30 p.m.: Harvard-Westlake vs. Compton

  • 5 p.m.: Centennial/Loyola winner vs. JSerra-Lakewood winner

  • 6:30 p.m.: Ocean View/Notre Dame winner vs. Clovis West/Cabrillo winner

  • 8 p.m.: Dominguez vs. Villa Park
