NEWPORT BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION PREVIEW
- Share via
Here are some items the planning commission will consider.
HOAG MEDICAL OFFICESTonight’s meeting will be something of a recap of the Nov. 16 meeting, with the Hoag Healthcare Center appearing on both agendas. The commission was ready to vote last month on whether to allow medical offices in the former Newport Technology Center on Superior Avenue, but staff members made a few corrections and clarifications to what the commission will vote on.
The proposal is to make 97,000 square feet of the 415,500-square-foot facility into medical offices. A list of provisions were added to indemnify the city against any legal challenges to the project and to require an asbestos survey before any demolition in the building.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The commission will probably vote to grant the permit.
NEWPORT BAY MARINAAlso continued from the Nov. 16 meeting, the Newport Bay Marina project again comes before the commission with a number of changes. The original project included 11 buildings containing some commercial space and 27 residential units, with underground parking and an 18-slip commercial marina.
At that meeting, commissioners asked the developer to tinker with the plan to provide a better buffer between the marina buildings and the Crab Cooker, a restaurant next door; to protect public views near the project; and to manage construction activity while the project is being built.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After spending a considerable amount of time discussing changes at the last meeting, the commission likely will be satisfied with the plans now.
