Board to honor departing trustees

The Newport-Mesa Unified School District board members plan to hold a special meeting on Tuesday to honor three outgoing trustees, Serene Stokes, Linda Sneen and Tom Egan.
Beginning at 7 p.m. in the district boardroom, administrators will formally recognize the three board members and open up the floor for public comments. Sneen and Egan, who both joined the board in 2002, did not run for reelection this year. Stokes, a trustee since 1994, lost in the November election to challenger Karen Yelsey.
Yelsey and the other two new trustees, Walt Davenport and Michael Collier, will be sworn in at the board’s organizational meeting on Dec. 12.
