UC Irvine 79, Loyola Marymount 59

IRVINE — Senior Angie Ned scored a career-high 37 points to lead the Anteaters to the nonconference win over Loyola Marymount Friday.

Stephanie Duda added 11 points and 14 rebounds for UC Irvine (2-4). Christina Zdenek scored 13 and Annie Mai had 11 for the Anteaters.

Ned, who scored just 27 points in the first four games of the season, shot 13 of 21 from the floor and four of eight from three-point range.

Her 37 points is the most by a Big West player this season.

Robin Smith scored 16 points and Brittany Taylor added 10 for the Pirates (6-2) who will face the winner of Chaffey and Cuesta in the final today.

COSTA MESA — Cameron Wise scored a game-high 16 points for the Pirates, who outscored Miramar, 56-34, in the second half Friday at OCC in a nonconference game.

Steve Cornett added 15 points and Miguel Gonzalez (11 points) made three three-pointers for OCC (5-3).

The Pirates play today at San Diego City College.
