Santa to make his rounds in Laguna

Many Laguna Beach community members will be able to wave to Santa as he passes by in his motorcade today from 5 to 6 p.m.

Traveling along with Santa — who will ride atop a Laguna Beach fire truck — will be a city trolley carrying the Laguna Beach City Council, and bringing up the rear a Mini-Cooper that will be raffled off later in the day.

Two motorcycle officers will accompany the motorcade.

Santa’s entourage will leave Laguna Beach High School promptly at 5 p.m., and head down Park Ave. to Glenneyre Street, where the motorcade will continue traveling for a bit before turning southbound onto Coast Highway, said Sgt. Bob Rahaeuser.

“We don’t know exactly where it will turn,” Rahaeuser said.

The motorcade will continue through South Laguna and turn onto Wesley Drive, where it will make a U-turn and head back up Coast Highway to Crescent Bay Drive in North Laguna.

At Crescent Bay, the motorcade will make another U-turn and go south to Forest Ave., where it will stop at City Hall promptly at 6 p.m. for the ceremonial lighting of the historic pepper tree.

Street closures

Several city streets will be closed for the Hospitality Night festivities. Forest Ave. from Coast Highway to Glenneyre will be closed to all traffic beginning at 3:30 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. Third Street hill will also be subject to closure.

Forest Avenue in front of City Hall will be closed to all traffic at 6 p.m. for the tree-lighting, but will reopen by 6:30 p.m.

Police are warning of traffic delays on Laguna Canyon Road and Coast Highway between 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. due to the event.
