H.B. Strikers take care of business

The HB Strikers closed out their regular season with a 5-1 victory over (Taking Care of Business) in AYSO Region 55 girls’ Under-12 division action.
The Strikers struck first as forward Alexa Vellanoweth scored off a pass back from Dana Conlisk just two minutes into the match. TCB tied the score on a goal by Amanda Kahn.
The teamwork of Strikers Vellanoweth, Sara Ioffrida, Lauren Delgadillo, Vivian Gay and Taylor Goodban led to three more goals and a 4-1 lead. Forward Hannah Higginson capped the victory by scoring the final goal.

Steelers 4, Green Hornets 0
Vince Chadarevian and Jack Kerins each scored twice as the Steelers blanked the Green Hornets in postseason play.
Christian Castelblanco, Liam Tye, Shawn Contreras and Elijah Bell got assists on offense, and the defensive efforts of sweeper George Vournas, fullbacks Sebastian Acosta-Galvan and Alex Harris and goalies Miles Higashioka and Max Beram, led to the shutout.
All-Stars 3, Steelers 1
Goals by Connor Gordon and Daniel Schulze in the fourth quarter broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the undefeated All-Stars (11-0-1) to victory and a spot in the Dec. 2 division title match against the Riptide.
Gordon’s goal came on a penalty kick and Schulze converted a shot deep from the left-corner.
Devin Lehtinen scored an earlier goal for the All-Stars.
Goalie Dallas Syfert limited the Steelers to a single goal, a penalty kick conversion by Jack Kerins. The mid-field play of Ryan Shiner and defense of C.J. Stovall, Justin Geer, Alex Hicks and Griffin Clement, helped shut down the Steelers.
In girls’ club soccer action:
NHB 1, SoCal 0
North Huntington Beach’s girls’ Under-11 team, NHB Black, finish the fall Coast Soccer League (CSL) season in second place with a win Saturday against the SoCal Blues Blue of San Juan Capistrano in the regular season finale for both teams.
Lisa Fast scored the lone goal of the match 10 minutes into the first half. Penny Roman got the shutout goal.
NHB 3, L.A. Rampage 0
NHB opened play in the league cup tournament Sunday and scored a shutout victory over the Rampage.
Kaylyn Benzen scored on a breakaway to give NHB a 1-0 halftime lead and second-half goals by Sarah Shklanko and Alex Karlowitsch, put the match away.
NHB 5, Palos Verdes 1
In their second league cup match, NHB led from start to finish in polishing off the Breakers.
Sarah Shklanko scored on a header for a 1-0 lead, Kayla Wigney posted a goal and after a Palos Verdes player inadvertently headed the ball into her team’s goal following a corner kick by NHB’s Christina Sanchez, the locals had a 3-0 lead by the half.
Katie Gainous and Raya Young added second-half goals for NHB.
