Officers save girl’s life
A 5-year-old girl is healthy and at home with her family after two Huntington Beach Police officers saved her life at a birthday party on Sunday.
The Anaheim girl, whose name has not been released by police, was jumping in an inflatable “bounce house” with food in her mouth when it apparently got lodged in her throat and she stopped breathing, police said.
According to police, the girl’s mother found her daughter face down in the house, with icy skin and not breathing. She then pulled some noodles from her daughter’s mouth, but she did not resume breathing.
Officers Shawn Randell and Jennifer Marlatt found the young girl on the grass in front of the apartment complex where the party was taking place. Randell gave the child “mouth to mouth” resuscitation, noticing a racing heart and her lips turning blue, police said.
The girl began breathing on her own in less than a minute, police said. She was taken to the hospital overnight and released the next day, Lt. Craig Junginger said.
