NEWPORT BEACH — A two-alarm fire at about 10 p.m. Tuesday torched a town house at 26 Wild Goose Court in Newport Beach and forced neighbors out of their homes for about an hour, authorities said. No one was hurt.

The blaze near Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian was knocked down around 10:25 p.m., officials said. The fire started in a fireplace and shot up the chimney into the town house’s attic, firefighters said. It was mostly contained to the one town house, damaging the roof and attic and leaving some smoke damage in a neighboring residence.
