Teens treat Girls Inc. to a party
Girls Inc. looked colorful on Wednesday afternoon, as the Assisteens — a group of high school seniors and juniors from the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa — hosted a Halloween party for the girls. For two hours after school, the older students organized games, held a trick-or-treating booth and handed out costumes and bags of candy.
The Assisteens have adopted Girls Inc. as one of their projects for the 2006-07 school year, and they came along at the right time; the 43 girls in the nonprofit this year make an all-time enrollment record.
