COSTA MESA — Kiwi Winkler recorded 18 kills and 16 digs to lead the Pirates’ to the 30-17, 30-20, 30-28, Orange Empire Conference victory Friday.

Jacqi Reed added 14 kills and Ashlee Moon 13 digs for OCC (11-1, 4-1 in conference. OCC setter Chelsea Spadaro finished with 35 assists. Riverside dropped to (8-3, 3-2).

OCC returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m., when it plays host to Irvine Valley.

Orange Coast 1, Santa Ana 1

COSTA MESA — A Santa Ana goal in the 87th minute kept the Pirates from the upset in Orange Empire Conference action Thursday.

In the 59th minute, OCC’s Alex Roberts made one of his seven saves on the day off a penalty kick. Three minutes later, the Pirates scored their lone goal. Dave Barnett took a crossing pass from Ignacio Rivera to give OCC (5-6-3, 1-3-2 in conference) a 1-0 lead.

MISSION VIEJO — Allie Nelson scored twice in the Pirates’ Orange Empire Conference tie.

Nichole Huff assisted on Nelson’s second goal. Orange Coast is now 8-5-1, 5-3-1 in conference

Pacific 2, UC Irvine 0

IRVINE — The Anteaters’ Big West Conference loss ended in the 85th minute due to an approaching lightning storm Friday.

The Tigers (10-3-1, 2-2 in conference) scored a goal in each half.

The Anteaters (3-10, 0-4) play hosts to UC Davis Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
