Seniors membership meeting Monday

Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. will hold a general membership meeting and fall fashion show at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Veterans’ Memorial Community Center, 384 Legion St.

New fall fashions from Louise’s Place on Forest Ave. will be featured, including cruise wear, evening wear and day wear.

Light refreshments will be served, and there will be some surprise gifts. This event is open to the public. For more information, contact the senior center, (949) 497-2441, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Discussion, support group for women

Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. is offering a monthly discussion and support group for women over age 70.

The group meets every month at the Veterans’ Memorial Community Center, 384 Legion St.

The group, facilitated by Maggie Decker, clinical psychologist, was formed to give women an opportunity to share in the positive aspects of getting older as well as the challenges.

The group will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, upstairs at the Veterans’ building. For more information about this and other programs and services the Seniors offer, call (949) 497-2441.

Medicare 2007 information seminar

Medicare for 2006 is coming to a close, and there will be many changes to Medicare 2007. These changes include the prescription drug plans and issues with HMOs, as well as cost increases that will require action on the part of all Medicare recipients.

The open enrollment time for Medicare is Nov. 15 to Dec. 31. Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. is sponsoring an informative program about Medicare 2007 at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the senior center, 384 Legion St. To reserve a place, call (949) 497-2441.

Free flu shots offered

The Laguna Beach Senior Center will offer a free flu shot clinic at 8 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27, while supplies last. The clinic will be located at the Veterans’ Memorial Community Center, 384 Legion St.

Flu shots will be administered free to seniors 60 years and older or to persons with a chronic illness on a first come-first serve basis. For more information, call Patty Koss, senior services coordinator, at (949) 464-9535.
