The Huntington Beach Jr. Pee Wee Green Chargers plowed their way through yet another opponent Saturday when they clipped the Santa Ana Gray Monarchs, 30-0, at Edison High.
It was the third victory in as many games for Huntington, which has won all three by shutout.
The rout began early and the scoring got underway quickly when Trevor Borkowski scored on a touchdown run on the second play of the game. On the ensuing kickoff, Roman Smith recovered a loose ball at the Santa Ana 35-yard line. A 33-yard run by Sam Doxakis moved the ball down to the two and Jesse Kuet ran in for another score from there.
Treavon Coley scored on a 40-yard run and a fumble recovery by Seth Shearer Fox at the Huntington 32-yard line, led to a touchdown run by Roman Smith. That TD gave the Green Chargers a commanding 30-0 lead after the first quarter.
Blake Hinchliff, Stephen Tovatt and Aaron Vargas keyed the Huntington defense and Trevor Loflin, Jordan Palomino and brothers Stone and Steele Escobedo, made big contributions on offense.
The Green Chargers will attempt to go to 4-0 Saturday when they play at undefeated Rancho Santa Margarita at 3:30 p.m.
