UPDATED

A pedestrian was killed early today when the driver of a Chrysler van at Brookhurst and Yorktown streets struck him, according to Huntington Beach police.

Peter Hosey, 66, of Huntington Beach was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Orange County Coroner’s office.

The van’s driver was identified as Roger Meyer, 45, of Huntington Beach. Police are continuing to investigate the accident, but so far Meyer has not been cited, Lt. Terry Lindsey said.

Meyer was northbound on Brookhurst at 5:54 a.m. when he hit Hosey who was walking east in the crosswalk across Brookhurst Street at Yorktown Avenue.

Meyer called the police, Lindsey said.
