SAN MARCOS — The Vanguard University men’s soccer team rallied for two late goals to earn a 2-1 nonconference triumph at Cal State San Marcos Tuesday.

Freshman Christopher Leiva scored on a penalty kick in the 74th minute to force overtime.

In the 15th minute of the first overtime, sophomore Dane Gallion controlled a long punt from goalkeeper William Johnson past midfield, dribbled across the box and beat the keeper to the lower left corner of the net for the game-winner.

SAN MARCOS — Rachel Housepian scored on an assist from Heather Hutton to help the Lions earn the nonconference victory Tuesday.

Vanguard upped its record to 5-0-1.

COSTA MESA — Kim Wynn led the Lions with 17 kills, but the Warriors rallied for a 26-30, 30-24, 26-30, 30-20, 15-13 Golden State Athletic Conference win Tuesday.

Vanguard fell to 7-5, 0-4 in conference.
