COSTA MESA — The Sage Hill School girls’ tennis team rolled to a 16-2 nonleague win over Calvary Chapel in the Lightning’s season opener Thursday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
Singles players Sarah Geocaris, Stephanie Langer and Ashley Adams swept for the Lightning.
Sage Hill plays defending CIF Southern Section Division I champion Laguna Beach today at 3 p.m. at the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.

ANAHEIM — Senior Sarah Stratton and freshman Kendra Fisher each swept in singles for the Eagles in their nonleague season opener on the road.

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors dominated with their defense to post a shutout in their season opener against nonleague visitor Huntington Beach Thursday at the Harper Community Center.
Kyleigh Harrison scored the lone goal on a penalty corner 10 minutes into the second half. Amanda Shaw had the assist.
Goalkeeper Jessica Pizarek made 20 saves for the Tars, who also received strong defensive play from Lauren Nordstrom, Clea O’Kieffe and Annabelle Storch.

Estancia 238, Fountain Valley 260
FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Caroline Clements shot 1-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors for the Eagles in this nonleague match Thursday at Mile Square Golf Course.
Lina You (46), Bridget Gleason (47), Taylor West (53) and Avery Williams (55) also scored for the winners (2-0).
Sage Hill 270, Fairmont Prep 287
IRVINE — Natalie Kraft shot 11-over-par 47 to lead the Lightning in their season opener Thursday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club.
Sara Anderson (51) and Kelsey Venditozzi (52) also aided the Sage Hill cause.

CORONA DEL MAR — The Sea Kings dropped their season opener, 20-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-22, Thursday.
Senior Juliane Piggott had 16 kills and 20 digs for the Sea Kings, Jamie Lawson had 19 assists and Kelly Christian had 13 kills and 19 digs.
Brooke Terry added two service aces and Kasey Kipp had three solo blocks for CdM, which plays at San Clemente on Tuesday.
Calvary Chapel def. Sage Hill
NEWPORT COAST — The defending CIF Southern Section Division V champion Lightning fell, 25-23, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19, in their season opener Thursday.
Junior Colleen Heyler had 10 kills and four service aces for Sage Hill, and senior setter Kelsey Lawler also had four service aces and 21 assists.
The Lightning play today and Saturday at the San Diego Classic tournament at Cathedral High.
