Vanguard University Athletic Director Bob Wilson has been elected to the NAIA Hall of Fame.Wilson will be inducted at the NAIA Division I men’s basketball national championships in March of 2007 with 18 other honorees.
Wilson was voted in for his nearly 25-year tenure as a men’s basketball coach in the NAIA. He led Vanguard to its first NAIA national tournament appearance in 16 years with a 20-13 record in his final year coaching in the 2005-06 season.
Wilson took three different universities to the national tournament and compiled a career record of 385-357. Wilson was named District Coach of the Year four times.
Wilson coached at Phillips University in Okla. and the University of Hawaii at Hilo prior to coming to Vanguard. He won two conference titles at both Phillips and Hawaii-Hilo.
Under Wilson’s coaching, 15 players earned NAIA All-American honors, 25 were named all-district and 16 were named all-conference, including two players of the year.
