Financial planning workshops begin Sept. 14

Fourteen charitable organizations are again offering the “It’s Your Money” workshop series in Laguna Beach. Focusing on a different topic each week, the free sessions will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 14 through Nov. 2, at the Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Dr.

Peter C. Kote, chair of the Laguna Canyon Foundation’s estate planning and gifts committee, will moderate.

Sponsors include Laguna Canyon Foundation, Laguna Playhouse, Laguna Art Museum, Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, Laguna Beach Seniors, SchoolPower Endowment Fund, Laguna College of Art & Design, Laguna Beach Rotary Club Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, Great Park Conservancy, Arthritis Foundation, Orange County Community Foundation and Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center.

Presented by Kote and local financial planning experts, the sessions will:

  • Answer questions regarding fixed-income investments;
  • Explain the difference between annuities, variable annuities and mutual funds;
  • Explore factors to consider with long-term care insurance;
  • Define differences between asset managers, financial planners, stockbrokers, bankers and insurance agents.
  • Workshop participants will not be approached to make charitable contributions or purchase financial products, and their names will be kept confidential.
