DARLENE CLARICE JACKLINCorona del Mar resident Darlene Clarice Jacklin died Aug. 15 of congestive heart failure. She was 88 years old.
Jacklin, born in Akron, Ohio, lived in Costa Mesa for 51 years and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Edward Jacklin; a son, Richard Jacklin; and two daughters, Tina Walker and Rita Daigh.
Services were held Saturday at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Heart Assn.
CHARLES EDWIN BROWN
Longtime Newport Beach resident Charles Edwin Brown died Aug. 14 at the age of 87.
Before moving to Leisure World for health reasons, Brown lived in Newport Beach and Corona del Mar for more than 40 years.
Brown was born in Connellsville, Pa. He served as a lieutenant in the Army and won a Purple Heart after being wounded in Germany. He played minor league baseball for an Albany, N.Y., team before moving to California in the late 1940s, and at 64 years old started playing ball again in a senior league, winning four world championships before retiring in 2002.
He served as the president of the Exchange Club of Newport Harbor and of the Newport Harbor-Costa Mesa Board of Realtors in the 1970s.
Brown is survived by a daughter, Mary Brown; two sons, Fr. Francis Brown and Ed Brown; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Clear Creek Monastery, 5804 W. Monastery Road, Hulbert, Okla., 74441.
