COSTA MESA CITY COUNCIL MEETING PREVIEW
The following are items the Costa Mesa City Council will discuss at its meeting tonight:
HOME REMODELING PROGRAMThe Costa Mesa City Council will consider implementing for the second time a program that encourages homeowners to fix up their homes.
The first pilot program, the Residential Remodeling Incentive Program, was implemented from Sept. 1, 2005 to Dec. 30, 2005. The program waived several construction permit fees for building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical work.
As a result, many homeowners installed new roofs, swimming pools, remodeled kitchens and built extra bedrooms.
City staff will ask the council to allow the new program to run from Sept. 5 to Dec. 15 this year.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The council is expected to approve the program, since it approved funding for it in June.
BEACH PIT BBQ PERMIT FOR OUTDOOR TVThe City Council will hold a public hearing on a Planning Commission denial of a minor conditional-use permit to allow an outdoor television behind The Beach Pit BBQ restaurant at 1676 Tustin Ave.
The commission denied the permit on July 10 because it felt nearby residents would be impacted by the higher noise levels created by additional outdoor activity due to cheering or other forms of audience participation.
WHAT TO EXPECT
City staff is asking the council to uphold, reverse or modify the Planning Commission’s decision.
