MARKAS INDUCTED

Rory Markas, the award-winning Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim play-by-play broadcaster, is slated to be inducted into the Guinness Irish Wall of Fame on Saturday at Muldoon’s Dublin Pub & Celtic Bar in Newport Beach.

During his broadcasting career, Markas has won three Golden Mike awards and two Associated Press Sportscasting awards.

Markas, who has broadcast Angels games the past four years, also is a sports reporter for Fox 11 KTTV and the play-by-play radio voice of the USC men’s basketball team.

The Guinness Irish Wall of Fame was created in 1999 to recognize individuals of Irish ancestry who reach high achievement in arts, sports and public service.

Chick Hearn and former UCLA football coach Terry Donahue are among the previous inductees.
