Breakers defeated

HARTFORD, Conn. ? The Newport Beach Breakers fell to 0-5 on the road with a 23-16 World Team Tennis loss to the Hartord FoxForce on Friday at the Apple Arena at Blue Fox Golf Course.

The Breakers (4-7) continue to reside in fifth place in the six-team Western Conference, with three regular-season matches remaining.

The mixed doubles tandem of Rick Leach and Tina Krizan gave Newport Beach its lone set victory when they produced a 5-4 triumph.

Pete Sampras lost in men’s singles, 5-2, to Glenn Weiner. Sampras is now 2-3 in men’s singles this season.

Hartford improved to 5-6.

Newport Beach continues its five-match road trip Sunday, when it visits the St. Louis Aces.
