Surf and sports gear maker Quiksilver Inc. said net revenues for the second quarter ended April 30 rose 21%, to $516.9 million, from $426.9 million. The Huntington Beach-based company said its 2006 quarterly results included sales from troubled French ski maker Rossignol and Cleveland Golf.

The company’s operating profit was down to $18.7 million in the second quarter, from $54.1 million a year earlier.

Quiksilver bought Rossignol in July of last year for $314 million and is planning to add ski apparel to Rossignol’s current lineup of skis. The French company is well known for making ski gear. Quiksilver bought Cleveland Golf at the same time.

Rossignol’s seasonal business has a positive effect on the company’s first and fourth quarters but a negative effect when its sales drop in the off-season, typically the second and third quarters, the company said in a news release. The Rossignol and Cleveland Golf businesses contributed about $86.2 million in net revenues during the second quarter.

Shares of Quiksilver rose 8% Friday as analysts thought the results were in line with expectations.
