Tolfa earns CIF honors
Corona del Mar High pitcher Michelle Tolfa was named to the CIF Southern Section Division IV second team in softball for the second consecutive year.
Tolfa posted a 1.50 ERA and .325 batting average for the Sea Kings, which earned a wild-card berth into the playoffs under her leadership.
Tolfa was also a first-team All-Pacific Coast League selection.
The junior right-hander led the league in strikeouts with 167, and walked just 19 batters in 135 innings pitched.
Tolfa was named the Daily Pilot Dream Team’s Newport-Mesa Player of the Year in softball for the second consecutive year.
Tolfa’s season was highlighted by a 14-strikeout, three-hit shutout performance over Back Bay rival Newport Harbor. She earned Daily Pilot Player of the Week honors for her efforts.
Of the 17 players on the All-CIF second team, Tolfa was one of five who will return to high school next year.
