Rattlers pull away from Diamonds

Matthew Oyakawa scored two of his match-best three goals in the final period of play as the Rattlers used a late scoring burst to produce a 7-3 victory over the Blue Diamonds in a Smythe Division contest at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The Rattlers outscored the Blue Diamonds, 4-1, in the third and final period to pull away.

Oyakawa also scored in the second period and assisted a goal by Jake Grothjan in the third period.

Grothjan finished with two goals and assisted one of Oyakawa’s goals. Kelly Ingram scored once and had an assist, Shane Williams had a goal and William Engelke had an assist.

Brandon Sizemore recorded 14 saves.

Spencer Reeves scored twice to pace the Blue Diamonds on offense. Anthony Tullio had a goal and Conner Reeves had two assists.

Sam Prizler had 19 saves.
