SCGA AMATEUR NET
Two Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club members are entered in next week’s Southern California Golf Assn. Amateur Net Championships.
Matt Fleming, a Huntington Beach resident, will play on the PGA of Southern California’s Championship Course in Beaumont, and San Clemente’s Peter Pellizon is scheduled for Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.
Both Fleming and Pellizon play the Los Lagos course at Costa Mesa.
FOR A GOOD CAUSE
The Orange County Interfaith Shelter announced it had raised more than $38,000 at its recent golf tournament, held at Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa.
Proceeds from the tournament, in its third year, went to the shelter, one of the largest venues for homeless families and single women in Orange County.
Nicole Barker, a spokesperson for the shelter, said it was the organization’s most successful tournament to date.
EAT, DRINK AND GOLF
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse in Newport Beach has found a unique way to publicize the upcoming Ryder Cup matches.
The restaurant is holding The American vs. European Wine Dinner on April 28. The dinner will include dishes and wines from America and Europe as picked by the restaurant’s executive chef and wine director.
The golf tie-in is a prize drawing for a trip for two to September’s Ryder Cup matches in Ireland. The prize is valued at $12,000, and people may enter the drawing online at Fleming’s website.
