Man’s body found in Santa Ana River

The Orange County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy Tuesday on the body of a man found Monday in the Santa Ana River channel near the San Diego Freeway (405) overpass in Costa Mesa, officials said.

The death is not being investigated as a homicide, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

Results of the autopsy were not available by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A passerby spotted the man, estimated to be in his mid-60s, floating in three feet of water.

Man faces charges in Dana Point hit-and-run

A man whose last known address was in Costa Mesa appeared in court Tuesday to face charges in a hit-and-run that left two Dana Point women in critical condition, according to a news release from the Orange County district attorney’s office.

William Todd Bradshaw, 37, is charged with one felony count of hit-and-run. His arraignment was continued to April 28 in South Justice Center in Laguna Niguel.

Police say Bradshaw struck and injured two women with his car while they were jogging along Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point on April 8. He abandoned the car after the accident, officials said.

Bradshaw was arrested when a someone spotted him at a Dana Point laundromat and called police.

Bradshaw’s last known address is a Costa Mesa drug rehabilitation house, but he is no longer registered there, police said.
