Sea Kings All-PCL in soccer
Two players from the Corona del Mar High girls’ soccer team and one from the Sea Kings’ boys’ team have been named first-team All-Pacific Coast League by league coaches.
Seniors Taylor Fallon and Rachel Yelsey represent the girls’ on the first team, while senior Paul Knezevic is the boys’ first-team honoree.
Senior girls Phoebe Chang and Kelly Morgan were second-team picks, while senior Jon Udahsev represented the boys on the second team.
The girls’ team rebounded from a 1-7-1 start to go 9-3 in league and advance to the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs. They lost in the first round to Chaparral, 3-1.
Fallon, a defender, will continue her career at Indiana University.
Yelsey was a top scoring threat for the Sea Kings.
Chang, a defender, was a third-team All-CIF Division performer this season.
Knezevic anchored the back line for the Sea Kings, who claimed the final Pacific Coast League berth in the playoffs, then nearly stunned No. 4-seeded Woodbridge in first round of Division II play.
Udahsev scored in the 25th minute against the Warriors to give Corona del Mar (10-9-3) a lead over Woodbridge, which eventually won on penalty kicks.dpt-pclsoccer29.IMGGraphicInfo241PDOTS20060329241PDOTSNo Caption
