Arizona snaps UCI’s streak

TUCSON, Ariz. ? The UC Irvine baseball team’s five-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-1 nonconference loss at Arizona on Saturday.
Wildcats’ left fielder Bill Rhinehart went 3 for 3 with three RBIs, including a solo homer in the fourth that broke a 1-1 tie.
UCI scored an unearned run in the first and managed just seven hits off two Arizona pitchers.
Bryan Peterson went 2 for 3 and Spike McDougall was 2 for 4 for the Anteaters (17-10)
Arizona improved to 11-11.
The two teams meet again today at 11 a.m. in the finale of the two-game set. Scott Gorgen is expected to get the start for UCI.
