The honors keep stacking up

If you haven’t been paying attention, Newport-Mesa high school athletes have been hauling in the awards lately.

Girls’ water polo.

Boys’ basketball.

Girls’ soccer.

Players from these sports (and others we’re probably missing; let us know what’s slipped by) have been honored in recent days and weeks for their brilliant on-field performances.

In some respects, it’s a typical run. Plenty of Newport-Mesa athletes are the creme de la creme. But that doesn’t dull any of their shines.

To all these top athletes, here’s to a job ? well, a sport ? well done. You’re making your parents, friends, family and coaches proud.
