CHARLES RICHARD SHORB

Former Newport Beach city worker and Costa Mesa resident Charles Richard Shorb will be remembered at services today and Saturday in Costa Mesa.

Shorb, born in Long Beach, lived in Costa Mesa for 55 years and worked as an equipment operator for the city of Newport Beach before he retired. He lived most recently in Hemet, where he died Tuesday of cancer. He was 78.

Shorb is survived by six daughters, Sherrie Essex, Marillyn Estes, Kathleen Peper, Diane Benzinger, Lynn Matzenger and Dana Harris; a son, Brian Shorb; a brother, Thomas Shorb; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Ave., Costa Mesa. The funeral is at noon Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1015 Baker St., Costa Mesa. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange.

FRANK LEWIS

Longtime Newport Beach resident Frank Lewis died in his sleep March 6. He was 92.

Frank, born Sept. 7, 1913, in Los Angeles, attended Los Angeles High School and USC. He spent most of his career in the automobile business, beginning in Burbank then moving to Newport Beach in 1956. He was a past president of the Costa Mesa Kiwanis Club and a member of the Newport Beach Country Club.

Frank was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie Lewis, second wife Barbara Lewis and eldest son, Stan Lewis. He is survived by sons Steve and Bob Lewis, grandchildren Kelly Clarey, Scott Lewis, Allison McKibbon and Ashley Lewis, and great-grandchildren Fred Clarey, Riley McKibbon and Cole McKibbon.

Services were held March 10 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach.
