The Newport Beach Public Library is inviting seventh- through 12th-graders to submit tolerance-themed art, essays and poetry for a citywide contest.
Members of the Newport Beach Arts Commission and Newport Beach Public Library Foundation will judge the competition, dubbed “Breaking Down Walls.” Entries, due at libraries by March 13, may be visual artworks, 250- to 350-word essays or poems dealing with issues of diversity.
The Central Library will display all entries, with winners to be announced at a reception on April 4. Winners in the middle school and high school categories will receive U.S. Savings Bonds.
