Medicare drug plan counseling

A representative from the Health Insurance and Counseling Advocacy Program will be available Monday to answer questions about the new Medicare Part D prescription drug program.

The service will be offered at the Laguna Beach Senior Center, 384 Legion St. To schedule an appointment, call (949) 497-2441.

Balance and mobility assessments

The Laguna Beach Senior Center and the Center for Successful Aging at Cal State Fullerton will offer balance and mobility assessments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Those who would like to participate must pick up a release form and have it signed by a primary care physician. Assessments will take approximately one hour and will be done at Veteran’s Memorial Community Center, 384 Legion St.

Tax preparation assistance available

Tax preparation and assistance is available by appointment beginning Feb. 1 at the Laguna Beach Senior Center.

Volunteer counselors trained by the Internal Revenue Service will operate a tax counseling desk from 9 a.m. to noon every Wednesday and Thursday through April 13 at the Senior Center, 384 Legion St.

Persons using this service should bring copies of their previous year’s federal and state tax returns and forms and information for the current tax year, including W-2s and other relevant materials showing income and deductions for the year. Senior driving course offered in Feb.

A “55-Alive Mature Driving Course” class will be held at Lang Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. Signups will be accepted until Feb. 6.

The class is designed for senior citizens and sponsored by the Laguna Beach Senior Center. To enroll, call (949) 464-9535.
