Hornets put the sting on Eagles

Kang nets three goals in a 4-2 Adams Division victory.Grayson Kang scored three goals, and the Hornets scored a victory in Adams Division play by defeating the Eagles, 4-2, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Kang scored the first and last two goals for the Hornets, who got a single goal from Ashton McKeown, assists from Grant Kang and Brent Lindstrom and 17 saves from Nick Hoskins.

Blake Walker scored both goals for the Eagles, the first off an assist from Brianna Case. Amanda Case recorded 13 saves.

In other Adams Division action:

Road Runners 8, Diablos 4

Brent Rivera netted eight goals -- including his team’s first three -- as the Road Runners raced past the Diablos.

Riley Draghi scored twice and Robert Becker once. Draghi, Emmett Jaeger and Chad Sasaki each had an assist, and Sam Prizler had 14 saves.

Tyler Crimmins scored the first three goals for the Diablos, Matthew Chism had a goal and assist and Travis Hunter had 16 saves.

Mighty Ducks 6, Hornets 5

The Mighty Ducks outscored the Hornets, 6-5, in an overtime shootout to win the match.

Austin Koss and Evan Gray scored their second goals of the match in overtime, and each assisted the other’s first goal. James Shramek and David Ramos also scored, and Brandon Sizemore had 19 saves.

Grayson Kang, a one-man scoring machine for the Hornets, posted all five of this team’s goals. Jack Clement assisted two of those scores, and Nick Hoskins had 17 saves.

Bruins 4, Slackers 3

Chandler Clark scored the first two goals and Lawrence Benavente the final two as the Bruins held off the Slackers.

Aaron Raber had an assist, and Ethan Higbee had 18 saves.

Hector Tepayotl, Stuart Urbano and Sean Cullinane scored goals for the Slackers. Cullinane and Nolan Strout had assists, and Jesse Mellema had 14 saves.

In Campbell Division action:

Rockets 4, Knights 1

The Rockets scored the final four goals en route to defeating the Knights.

Cooper Haar scored twice, Joe Gibb and Jake Arnold once each and Trenton Coats had 24 saves.

Cole Milburn scored unassisted, and Cameron Ciantar had 18 saves for the Knights.

Rink Rats 3, Bulldogs 2

The Rink Rats overcame an early 2-1 deficit to defeat the Bulldogs.

Trent Sievers, Lucia Procopio and Casey Rhodes scored goals, Julia Wong and Kirsten Schaefer had assists and Blake Walker had five saves for the Rink Rats.

Karson Derego and Justin Pichedatana each scored, and David Wellander had 22 saves for the Bulldogs.

Hot Wheels 7, Blackhawks 3

The Hot Wheels jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one period and sped past the Blackhawks.

Brandon Doyle scored three goals, Austin Martinez two and Chris Chen and Preston Yamasaki one each. Iris Chen had two assists and Harrison Eggert one, and Riley Draghi finished with nine saves.

Monstars 3, Kings 2

Haley Sanders scored a late goal to lift the Monstars past the Kings.

Brandon Entwistle had a goal and an assist, Tyler McLuckey scored once and Dylan Zeglovitch had 30 saves.

Ian Bast scored, Jake Shaylor had an assist and Ethan Higbee had 27 saves for the Kings.
