Group to discuss stem cells

Assn. of University Women will host researcher from UCI.The Laguna Beach chapter of the American Assn. of University Women will present a program on stem cell transplant therapy Thursday.
Jill R. Faulkner, a postdoctoral fellow in the Hans Keirstead laboratory at the Reeve-Irvine Research Center at UC Irvine, will discuss the lab’s and her own research.
The lab has recently demonstrated an ability to repair spinal cord injury in rats using human embryonic stem cells.
Faulkner’s presentation will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Laguna Niguel Library, 30341 Crown Valley Parkway. Association members and guests are invited to attend. Information: CeCe Sloan, (949) 458-7967 or [email protected].
