Tars find win at end of the road

SANTA CLARITA -- Newport Harbor High’s boys’ basketball team finished a well-traveled nonleague schedule with a 68-37 victory over Golden Valley on Tuesday night.

The Sailors (12-2) had a game in Santa Paula and played in a tournament in Arizona before Tuesday’s contest.

Dennis Heenan scored a game-high 25 points for Newport Harbor, which held the hosts to 16 points in the second half. Robert Koon added 12 points.

Jamell Patterson led Golden Valley with 19 points.

The Sailors open the Sea View League schedule on Friday night at Woodbridge in a 7 p.m. game.
