Laguna Beach residents McCall Miller and Chelsea Pavlik, members of the girls’ volleyball team at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, and Piper Miller, a student and member of the girls’ golf team at St. Margaret’s in San Juan Capistrano, have been honored for their outstanding performances in the 2005 season.
McCall Miller, a senior outside hitter, was named the Monarchs’ most valuable player, and Pavlik, also a senior outside hitter, was presented the award for offense at the team’s banquet Dec. 13.
The two players led the Monarchs in several offensive and defensive categories. Pavlik led the team in kills (312) and aces (66), and Miller was second in each category, with 279 kills and 34 aces.
McCall Miller also was second on the team in blocks (81) and digs (296).
Piper Miller earned All-CIF status during 2005. The junior was named MVP of the Academy League for the second-straight year and had a score of 78 to finish among the top competitors at the 2005 All-CIF-Southern Section-Toyota Girls’ Individual Golf Championships at the Diamond Bar Country Club on Nov. 4.
