Skulls win Norris Division hockey championship

A 3-2 win over FD All-Stars vaults the inline hockey team to a title.The Skulls held off a late charge by the FD All-Stars to claim a 3-2 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach and the Norris Division championship.
Two goals by Evan Gray and one by William Huffman, with Andrew Huffman getting two assists and Matthew Chism one assist, gave the Skulls a 3-0 lead through two periods.
The FD All-Stars made a game of it in the third period, where they scored twice on goals by Chad Sasaki and Sean Cullinane. Patrick Baikie assisted Cullinane’s goal.
Sam Prizler had 24 saves for the Skulls and Joshua Fowler 22 for the FD All Stars.

Smythe Division
HB Flyers 5, Stars 3
The HB Flyers rode a fast start to a win over the Stars.
The Flyers jumped out to a 4-1 lead through one period, getting two goals from Brandon Albertson and one each from Ryan Piscotty and Jake Grothjan. Assists during the scoring spree where dished out by Brett Neubauer, Cameron Ciantar, Grothjan and Piscotty.
Grothjan scored an unassisted goal in the second period, and Craig Wellander finished with 24 saves.
The Stars scored in every period, with Slater Hoar scoring once and Brandon Sizemore posting the final two goals.
John Findley, Michael Netteberg and Cody Sizemore each had an assist.
David Panchak had 20 saves.
Campbell Division
Diablos 7, Rink Rats 2
The Diablos raced to a 5-1 lead through two periods en route to the division title.
Corey Childers led the way with three goals, and Drew Truxaw scored twice. Tyler Crimmins and Karson Derego each scored once.
Crimmins handed out three assists, and Parker Murchison and Kyle Breznot one each.
Trent Sievers scored both goals for the Rink Rats, one coming off an assist from Austin Heilman.
Blake Walker had 21 saves.
Patrick Blue Division
Invaders 5, Sabers 1
The Invaders took control from the outset by jumping out to a 3-0 victory in defeating the Sabers.
The Invaders’ scoring was spread among Trevor Evans, Matt Buffardi, Omar Tepayotl, Eric Walker and Trevor Whitecoton.
Evans, Tepayotl, Shaun Ellis, Brandon Drochner and Matt Korn had assists and Corey DeMatteo recorded 20 saves.
Joseph Ramirez scored off a double-assist from Justin Pederson and Eric Freese, and Matthew Duran had 28 saves.
