Owners blamed for mall’s woes

Costa Mesa officials say they’re ‘baffled’ by Triangle Square vacancies, blame poor marketing.Although Costa Mesa officials continue to believe Triangle Square has the potential to become a thriving shopping center, they are troubled by its loss of three major stores in one year.

The problem, according to Donald Lamm, Costa Mesa’s development services director, is that the mall’s owners appear to have a lack of initiative in making Triangle Square work.

The mall is owned by a company called Triangle Square Investments LLC. In Lamm’s view, the firm has “shown very little interest in the way of imaginative marketing.”

“The city is absolutely baffled as to why more spaces haven’t leased,” Lamm said.
