Choe makes Buick field

UC Irvine senior Jay Choe qualified for the Buick Invitational to be held Jan. 26-29 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.

Choe, who is redshirting this year for the Anteaters, shot a 2-under-par 70 to capture the sponsor’s exemption by one shot in a qualifying tournament at Torrey Pines South on Oct. 29.

Newport Beach Golf Course is playing host to a junior tournament on Dec. 27. The cost is $40 per person (age 17 and under), which includes range balls, golf, lunch and a gift certificate.
