Coat finds man in need
At Hospitality Night, Girl Scouts collecting warm winter coats for distribution to those in need discover an early customer. One man received a much-needed winter coat on Friday during Hospitality Night.
The Girl Scouts One Warm Coat collection project that culminated at Hospitality night was a great success, with nearly 500 coats collected, Susie Russell of the Laguna Beach Girl Scouts said.
On Friday, as the number of donated coats mounted on the tables -- and as rain started to fall -- Amanda Romano, 9, of Troop 948, noticed a man near the collection table who needed a coat.
She found one that would fit, offered it to him, and he took it gratefully.
“That is what One Warm Coat is all about and we are so grateful for the warm generous response of the community,” Russell said.
“This week coats will be delivered to the Laguna Beach Relief and Resource Center as well as the Saddleback Community Outreach.”
