Sandpiper flies near perfection

Softball team 9-0 after win over C-Dawgs.In the City of Laguna Beach Community Services Department’s fall slow-pitch softball program, Tuesday League champion Sandpiper is one game away from achieving a perfect season.
In Tuesday League action:
Sandpiper 10, C-Dawgs 3
Ryan Neptune ripped a grand slam and Mica Brown delivered a three-run home run, as Sandpiper made the C-Dawgs their ninth-straight victim.
Neptune also had an RBI single. Brown’s homer highlighted a six-run third-inning.
Frank Ranieri hit a two-run home run for the C-Dawgs.
Team Viagra 14, DUI Fighters 3
Andy Bunn, Mike McKenzie and Keith Mulvaney each produced four hits in a 23-hit attack as Team Viagra recorded its sixth win in league play.
Mike Jewell hit a home run for the DUI Fighters.
Ganahl Lumber 7, Red Rum 2
John Campbell relinquished seven singles as Ganahl Lumber also picked up win No. 6 to stay tied for second place with Team Viagra in the standings.
Dave Wallace hit a two-run homer and Steve Dixon a three-RBI triple to lead Ganahl Lumber on offense.
Josh Hawthorne had three of Red Rum’s seven singles.
Tuesday League standings:

In Thursday League action:
Compound Fractures 16, Pancakes 1
Compound Fractures 10, Puswatrkylegs 5
The two wins, including one over previous league leader, Puswatrkylegs, vaulted Compound Fractures into first-place with one game to play.
Against the Puswatrkylegs, William Maniaci clubbed four home runs in his four at-bats, good for eight RBI. He also singled twice in the win over the Pancakes.
Other key batting contributions in the two wins came from David Strong, who hit a grand slam and singled three times, and Jerry Quintana and Brandy Faber, each with a home run and two singles.
Ryan Harriman hit a home run and Justin Westgaard a double for the Puswatrkylegs.
Courtesy Auto Body 8, Hamstrings 8
Courtesy Auto Body 12, Pancakes 2
The two victories kept Courtesy Auto Body, which started league play 1-3, in the thick of the title chase.
Ryan Corbett led Courtesy Auto Body in the two games with a grand slam and three singles.
Mike Wallace went four-for-four with a three-run home run, double and two singles for the Hamstrings, and Jay Lyon doubled and singled for the Pancakes.
Hotwings 14, Puswatrkylegs 12
Hotwings 12, Hamstrings 8 Hotwings stretched its win streak to three games by upsetting previous league leader Puswatrkylegs, then followed up with a 12-8 win over the Hamstrings.
Trigg Warner led the offensive battery in the two games with three home runs, a double and two singles to account for seven RBI.
Jesse Westgaard drove in five of the 12 runs by Puswatrkylegs with a home run and single, and Mark Christy had a home run and single, good for three runs, to lead the Hamstrings.
Thursday League standings:
1. Compound Fractures, 6-3; 2. Courtesy Auto Body, 5-3-1; 3. Puswatrkylegs, 5-4; 4. Pancakes, 3-4-2; 5. Hamstrings, 2-4-3; 6. Hotwings, 3-6.
