NEWPORT BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION PREVIEW
- Share via
Here are some items the planning commission will consider today:
MARINER’S MILE GATEWAY
The applicant, Mariner’s Mile Gateway LLC, is seeking approval to demolish the retail center near the intersection of West Coast Highway and Dover Drive in order to build a new a 56,000-square-foot retail development on the same site. The proposal also includes plans to widen West Coast Highway and to install a new traffic signal.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Possible debate on this item could include proponents casting the planned retail center as an idea to revitalize business on Mariner’s Mile. Possible concerns could include how the new retail center and traffic signal could affect traffic on West Coast Highway.
If planning commissioners do not choose to approve the proposal, the panel could ask Mariner’s Mile Gateway developers to make changes to the plan.
NEWPORT LEXUS SIGNS
Wilson Automotive Group, the company building a Lexus dealership near MacArthur Boulevard and Jamboree Road, is asking for permission to install signs that do not comply with the area’s sign regulations.
WHAT TO EXPECT
City staffers recommend accepting the Wilson Automotive Group’s sign plan.
