A 21-year-old Garden Grove man was hospitalized in stable condition Thursday after being hurled 20 feet off his motorcycle when he collided with a moving vehicle.
Kevin Le was driving his Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Fairview Road approaching Paularino Avenue at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday when he collided with a 1996 four-door Cadillac Seville, Costa Mesa police said.
Police said a car driven by 19-year-old Costa Mesa resident Elise Whitson was traveling southbound on Fairview Road when she proceeded into the left turn lane.
On a green light, she started her turn eastbound onto Paularino Avenue. Le, who was traveling northbound on Fairview Road, was unable to stop and hit Whitson’s car in the intersection, police said.
The impact caused Le to hit the windshield of the car and fly onto the roadway. He had several fractures and was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.
Whitson was not injured in the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
