Sailors roll with doubles
NEWPORT BEACH -- Newport Harbor High proved its ranking, defeating Aliso Niguel, 14-4, in a Sea View League matchup Thursday.
The Tars, ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division I, swept all nine doubles sets over Aliso Niguel. Newport lost only nine doubles games in the match. The team of juniors Sasha Dunlap and Chrissy Schwartz won their sets, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1.

NEWPORT BEACH -- The Newport Harbor freshman-sophomore boys’ water polo team won its first two games of the Gray Lunde Memorial Tournament on Thursday at Corona del Mar High to advance to the semifinals.
Newport Harbor will take on the winner of the Corona del Mar-Riverside Poly game on Saturday at Newport Harbor High at 9:40 a.m. The winner advances to the championship game at 1:50 p.m. at Newport Harbor High.

IRVINE -- The Lightning clinched second place in the Academy League with a victory at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course.
Justine Chen led Sage Hill with a 10-over-par 45. Emma Koh was one stroke behind at 46. Kimmie Venditozzi shot 50, Kelsey Venditozzi scored a 53, and Madison Gillis shot 54.
Sage Hill (11-3, 6-2 in league) plays next in the Academy League championships at San Clemente Golf Course on Monday.

NEWPORT BEACH -- The Sailors were led by sophomore Kendall Horn, who shot 10-over-par 46, in their regular-season and Sea View League finale Thursday at Big Canyon Country Club.
Iko Kagasoff (54) and Taylor Funk (56) rounded out the top three for Newport Harbor, which winds up 0-15, 0-10 in league.
The Sailors compete in the league individual tournament beginning Monday at San Juan Hills Country Club in San Juan Capistrano.
Newport Harbor Coach Scott Tarnow said three-time defending league champion Natalie Draganza, a senior, is still not able to compete due to a torn rotator cuff.

Aliso Niguel
NEWPORT BEACH -- The Sailors clinched the Sea View League title with a three-set victory over Aliso Niguel at home, 25-20, 25-11, 25-13.
Megan Munce and Megan Tolman tied for the team lead with 10 kills apiece in the contest. Jamie Heenan had nine digs and eight kills in the victory. Setter Alicia Young contributed 22 assists and eight digs in the win.
The Sailors (18-7, 8-0 in league) will next play Tuesday at Irvine. The Wolverines fall to 5-3 in league and will likely be in second place.
